Using AquaCrop model to derive deficit irrigation schedules for improved irrigation water management for tomato production in Zimbabwe

چکیده
Increasing scarcity and unreliability of rainfall, the absence irrigation schedules are challenges to decision-making, particularly for viable tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) production in Zimbabwe. The objective this study was determine water requirements as a basis developing generic calendar guidelines more efficient management Harare, We explored options improving traditional, dry supplementary wet season practices. By considering archived climate data thirty years (1991-2021) Harare; model-simulated consumptive use from 2014 2017 at Thornpark Research Station, together with crop soil characteristics; method; an developed using AquaCrop model 5.0. improved schedule cultivation 60% ETc, resulted 471.6 mm, yield 3.40 t ha-1; compared 820 mm 1.118 season. Through model, we have been able estimate time interval between previous next any date growing Therefore, year-round irrigated may be feasible added advantage 2.28 ha-1 obtainable rainy periods.

Optimal deficit irrigation using AquaCrop model: a methodology study
Both developing and developed countries have problems with availability of water to increase agricultural productivity. The importance of improving water efficiency in agriculture has been the subject in many research papers. The usual approach to limit water consumption in agriculture at the district and farm level is to apply water quotas. These quotas may be either for the whole season or fo...
متن کاملModel and Production Function for Irrigation Management
A simulation model was developed to estimate the effect of deficit irrigation upon crop yield. The model was designed to provide relative yield estimates for numerous combinations of irrigation system, crop growth and irrigation management parameters. A daily soil moisture balance was used to predict evaporation and transpiration from which crop yields were estimated. Gross irrigation water req...

In this research, the effects of irrigation with saline and fresh water through drip irrigation method and using two irrigation management strategies: M1, M2 (M1 is irrigation with fresh water in alternative with saline water, M2 is saline water in first half time of each irrigation event and fresh water in the second half), on the yield, water productivity (WP), soil salinity, plant height...
متن کاملDeficit irrigation for reducing agricultural water use.
At present and more so in the future, irrigated agriculture will take place under water scarcity. Insufficient water supply for irrigation will be the norm rather than the exception, and irrigation management will shift from emphasizing production per unit area towards maximizing the production per unit of water consumed, the water productivity. To cope with scarce supplies, deficit irrigation,...
متن کاملResponse of tomato to irrigation with saline water applied by different irrigation methods and water management stratigies
In a field experiment the effects of irrigation with saline drainage water (seasonal average of 4.5 dS/m) and non-saline water (0.55 dS/m) applied by two different water management strategies (cyclic or blended saline water with non-saline water in different ratios) and two different irrigation methods (drip or furrow) were studied on growth and productivity of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum M...
